getting greener in a good way
remember ed begley jr.? the guy with the blond hair and geeky glasses from st. elsewhere, a 80's tv show about a hospital. remember how people labeled him eccentric for being eco conscious in the 80's/90's? ed is certainly a man ahead of his time because now no one thinks he's weird anymore (ok, i don't). i try to catch his show on the planet green channel, living with ed, and i enjoy watching it. it's funny to see how exasperated his wife gets. :)
one of the episodes, ed visits pitzer college which is a liberal arts college up in the san fernando valley claremont. it is building eco friendly dorms and one of the things that caught my eye was a dual flush toilet! the toilet has two button dual flush (0.8/ 1.6 gallon). if you go #1, you can do the 0.8 flush. if you go #2, you can use the 1.6 flush. wow! i am very tempted to get this one:
our city is offering a $250+ rebate for such toilets! i am going to call city hall to confirm if they're still offering this rebate but regardless, i love to get one.
for now we bought a low flow showerhead below from delta to help with california's drought. every bit counts, right?
we're always looking for ways to be greener. we recycle items beyond cans and bottles. 90% of our household is using cfl bulbs. YES, we're starting to use our britta filter rather than drink bottled water. we're thinking about getting a pirus or civic hybrid. all the used ones are so expensive so we're buying new. i can wait for a brand new one for a cheaper price -- oh, the price gouging! :P
can hybrid owners chime in on their cars? we would LOVE to hear your experiences, pro's and con's.

good post!
dual flush is great - i have it at home and here at the office.
We just looked at a "green" house in O.C. It's in a new green community and it had the dual flush toilets too! That was one of my fav. parts of the house.
the main thing about hybrids is that their carbon emissions are a lot lower. i'm sure there are anti-hybrid folks who will continuously tell you that you will not save money on gas. that's fine. it's not the point. do you remember tina from hs? she has a civic hybrid. i can send you her email if you want to talk to her. i think the diff is the engines used.
