inspired by president barack obama
i finished watching barack obama speak at his inauguration. i'm excited about obama as our president. after 8 long years of confusion and illogic, someone who is pragmatic and intelligent is finally in charge of attacking the domestic issues. i despised the republican focus on foreign issues. as his father did, w's focus was on the middle east and i can't help but to feel there was an ulterior motive of our "fight for liberty and justice" of those suppressed by sadam. i just wanted to throw things at the tv whenever bush was speaking. i'm just ecstatic that he is out of the house and mccain did not succeed him. if that was the case, then i would be crying in sadness for the future of our nation. we would be doomed. now that obama has stepped in, all i have is hope that we're taking a step in the right direction to recovery.
inspired by our 44th president, this year i like to really step up the effort in lending a helping hand. i've been just working hard for myself mostly: college, career, and home life. our life now is as stable as it will ever get for us.
after the shake up at my last company and the economy tanking last septemeber, i realized how fortunate we are and how selfish i would be if i didn't put my energy in helping others in need. this year, i like to volunteer more. whether the humane society, food bank, or habitat for humanity, i am here to help the less fortunate.
i want my children to feel the same way i do. granted, i have no children and am not expecting anytime soon, i was deeply inspired by obama when he took his girls to volunteer at a soup kitchen last thanksgiving. i turned to my husband and said, "i want to take my kids to go volunteer so they won't take what they have for granted."
