ricky ticky

here's what i do: use advantage or one of those medications you drop onto their neck monthly. saves you tons of fears + headaches w/ ticks + fleas. i saw some ticks at the park recently - hate them.

now, if you do have them on your pet, you gotta get them out. the vet told me to use a credit card or a hard plastic edge thing to scrape alongside the skin to get the head out from under the skin. don't pull because the body will disconnect from the head and then the head will infect the pet.
eeew sounds gross. i have no idea what ticks even look like. but i have to agree w/ ms. aiyah w/ advantage. bugs n fleas start flying out of your pets body. insane!
Hi there. I've not had ticks on the boys, yet (knock on wood), but when I worked at a vet facility what was recommended: a preventative (aadvantage) and a flea/tick spray. NEVER use a flea/tick dip on cats (TOO TOXIC). We used an archaic type of spray (adams), but I hear that Frontline spray works well.

Yet, if it were me, trying to avoid pesticides and harming my cat, I would just wash them, inspect them really well. If you suspect that they may have ticks form your inspection, then, I would go the spray route. Unfortunately, I don't know of a more "holistic" approach to tick removal if you suspect an infestation.
