I'd actually disagree with "don't get the flu shot." I used to be in the same camp. I hate to take any extra medication, because I'm afraid that it will render my body less able to defend itself. However, since the flu shot is basically like giving your body a small dose of the flu, you're actually strengthening your immune system. I got the flu a few years ago, the real flu, and it laid me out flat for like a week. It was horrible. I've been getting the flu shot for a couple years now, and I haven't gotten sick once. It didn't hurt, either.

i was iffy about my last tip about the flu shot.

i just haven't had it and haven't had the full blown flu nor do i look forward to having it. :P it's like delaying taking out the wisdom teeth like i did; not necessary a bad thing but it's a truly bad thing in reality. maybe i'll learn when i'm finally hit with it, huh? :P

I totally hate shots... but I was amazed, because when I got one, I looked away (I'm a big baby) and I didn't even notice that she had finished it! But I feel ya...
I advocate for the flu shot as well. (I have to. I work for Public Health. :P ) It doesn't guarantee that you won't get the flu BUT if you do, it won't be as bad compared to not getting the flu shot. Otherwise you're doing great with the hygiene routine.
