Who taught you how to cook?

pfft. not my mom. i'm still learning. god bless my mother and her cooking but she was so anal about keeping her kitchen clean that i was never allowed to help her. she shoo'ed me out when she was cooking.
during college, let's say i boiled a lot of water. :P
i can't really get away with just boiling water now. i look around for online recipes. allrecipes.com is a godsend.
my favorite dishes i can make and am not embarrassed to share with others (super easy one pot deals):
- beef stew
- spaghetti
- pot roast
- chicken pot pie
- rice porridge
- kimchi jiggae
- bulgogi
- teriyaki chicken (duh)
- pad thai
i bake, too. i try not to so much because most of the stuff is bad.
- hong kong style egg tarts
- banana bread muffins
stuff i made that totally took a nose dive:
- okonomayaki (oh, boy, what a disaster it was)
- kasutera cake (linda, i took your recipe and managed to botch it up!)
